The tubs of Blueboost blueberries you find on your supermarket shelf, went through quite a bit to get there. We pride ourselves on bringing you only the best fruit possible, and it’s taken a lot for us to finesse our process to the point that it is today. One of the most important parts is the Blueboost pack-house – the heart of our process. It’s where each berry is checked and packed before being shipped off to you.

You see, we realised a long time ago, that great things only come with love, care and attention to detail. The same can be said with the way we treat ourselves every day.

 

Here are the top 5 things we do for our blueberries, that you can do for yourself.

Surround yourself with amazing people

There’s no doubt about it. People make everything possible, including bringing South Africa the best blueberries. We call them our Superfood Superheroes and for good reason – they are picked just as carefully as our berries. These hard-working men and women dedicate time, love and attention to everything they do. From handpicking and packing, to quality control and labelling.

OUR TIP FOR YOU: Try to surround yourself with people who are willing to invest their time, love and dedication into making sure that you are the best possible version of who you can be. When you do find them, treat them with love and respect

Chill out

Our pack-house and storage rooms are kept to a chilly low of between 0 and 5 degrees. Keeping our blueberries as cold as possible through the process means that they’ll stay fresher for longer.

Embrace pickiness

Technology has come a long way, but there’s still no machine that can pick blueberries off of the bush. This means that each and every one of our berries are hand-picked.

What can we learn from that? Be considerate. Take stock of your life. Make sure you know what’s important to you, and what you can do without. Ask yourself what truly brings you pleasure and write down your top 3 picks. Next, make sure you have enough time every week to spend time on those 3 things.

Toss The Trash

Look, we love all blueberries. Unfortunately, some of them just aren’t good enough to make it into a Blueboost tub. That’s why we have 5 levels of quality control in our pack-house alone! We have an incredible array of machinery, including a very fancy, photographic and digital sorting tray that scans every single berry, analysing it by shape and consistency to ensure only the best get through.

Unfortunately, there’s no machine that can help us get rid of the bad berries in our lives, but the exercise is extremely important anyway. Take some time to decide what you can do without. The people, the expenses, the worries and the regrets that hold you back everyday. These can be dropped and used for fertilizer, just like our bad berries.

Keep it clean

We have to admit. There’s one thing we’re almost as obsessed with as we are with blueberries. And that’s cleanliness. We go through a long list of procedures every day to ensure that our factory is certified to the highest international & local hygiene standards. At the end of the day, having our factory spick and span means that we’ll be getting you the best healthy berries to be the happiest, healthiest you.

This is our last tip to you. Clean up. Don’t underestimate the power of living clutter-free. Try it this weekend. Take a few hours and declutter your home and work space. Get rid of all the little things you’ve been keep over the years – we don’t mean the important memorabilia, but the things you don’t even think about.
